As he said, WRK over the Atlas has begun in 80 - h years of the last century at the Petersburg Institute of Arctic regions and Antarctic. In total 17 scientific institutions of Russia have taken part in WRK over it. Editing and the edition were carried out by experts - cartographers Military - marine sea fleet.
In the Atlas researches of all Russian scientists, world community which have been created for years of research of Antarctic are collected. The atlas contains 12 sections, beginning from history of development of Antarctic, finishing the geomorphological data, the flora and fauna description.
