Medvedev has charged to ratify the convention of Espoo
Dzerzhinsk (Nizhniy Novgorod region), 9 ijun - News. the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev has charged to ratify the convention of Espoo - the international convention on an influence estimation on environment in a transboundary context which has been accepted in 1991, but till now is not ratified by Russia.
the Vice-president of the Russian Academy of Sciences Nikolay Laverov, acting at session of presidium of the State Council on ecology in Dzerzhinsk, has noticed that this convention signed by Russia, is not ratified till now.
" It has not been ratified by the Supreme body, and then the State Duma. It to us is very favourable, after all all transboundary carrying over goes 2 us " - Laverov has told.
In the answer Medvedev has assured the academician that in the list of commissions following the results of State Council session already there is a commission ABT ratification of this convention.

the Convention on an influence estimation on environment in a transboundary context (the Convention of Espoo) has been accepted on February, 25th, 1991 in the Finnish city of Espoo. According to the document, procedure of an estimation of influence on environment (OVOS), including public discussions of potentially dangerous projects, should be spent not only in the state, but also in the adjacent countries which can be mentioned this influence.
Russia has signed on June, 6th, 1991, but did not ratify the Convention of Espoo. The public nature protection organisations were repeatedly converted 2 the president of Russia, in federal public authorities W an appeal to ratify the Convention of Espoo.
