Loud litigation in Spain
the Former chairman of the board Banco Espanol de Credito (Banesto) Mario Konde on January, 31st has been released from the prison where contained since December, 23rd, 1994. It has been released after has presented the bank inquiry that can pay pledge in the sum 2 mlrd pesetas ($15 million). It is the highest size of pledge, when - or established by the Spanish court. The Financial Times newspaper informs on it.
the Court in Madrid also has decided to release on bail in 1 mlrd Arthur Romani`s pesetas, the former main executive manager of industrial corporation of bank Banesto. Romani Konde has been detained one week earlier.
and Romani decision Bank of Spain have been dismissed by Konde from Banesto among councillors of managing directors in the end of 1993 - after audit has opened the fact of revaluation of actives of the bank making nearby 7000 mlrd of pesetas, on 503 mlrd pesetas.
both financiers are accused of a deceit of holders of actions of bank Banesto. The court has satisfied the petition of the protection which have declared that charges in swindle for the sum, in total, 7 mlrd pesetas (Konde) and 5 mlrd pesetas (Romani) are not so serious, that it made sense to hold bankers in custody.
and Konde are accused by Romani, in particular, that the bank holding headed by them bought up on strong to inflated prices a network of the small companies the part from which belonged to Konde and Romani.
court Date is not named yet and it seems that investigation of financial activity accused can occupy some more months. The court has ordered to two former bankers to inform once a week on itself to the judge running this business, and has confiscated their passports.
